Detrusor underactivity (DU) and underactive bladder (UAB) symptoms occur commonly with or without neurogenic causes. Patients with DU often present with confusing storage and emptying LUTS and urodynamics (UDS) is the only accepted method for diagnosing DU and differentiating it from bladder outlet obstruction (BOO). The complicated nature of defining and diagnosing DU / UAB is discussed, along with UDS case studies.
