Nocturnal enuresis affects approximately 6 million children in the United States each year. Due to the high number of children affected and the high number of nocturnal enuresis referrals to our pediatric urology clinic, families experienced an increased wait time for provider appointments, resulting in dissatisfaction and delay in treatment. In an attempt to address this issue and begin treatment as soon as possible, we implemented Pediatric Enuresis Education Sessions.

Often, patient education is overlooked or done quickly for many reasons. Patient education is a fundamental aspect of patient care and yet poor education is one of the most common sources of patient complaints both in and out of the hospital. Ensuring patient understanding of their health condition is extremely important and can improve outcomes, adherence to the plan of care and patient safety. Patient education concepts and creative ways to interject patient teaching in encounters with urologic patients are discussed.

The SNS is an implantable neurostimulator device indicated for OAB, UUI, urinary retention and fecal incontinence. This talk reviews SNS and discusses indications for reprogramming as well as different ways to troubleshoot in the office.
