Ashlynn Messmore is a clinical assistant professor at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She earned her bachelor's degree in Human Biology and Society at the University of California, Los Angeles and then earned her master's degree in Genetic Counseling at the University of California, Irvine. While at UCLA, she served as a research assistant in a microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics laboratory. She was appointed as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UC Irvine in 2016 and joined the Department of Genetics at the University of North Carolina in 2017. She is currently involved in the telemedicine cancer clinic with Nash UNC Health Care, Multidisciplinary Urology Clinic and Adult Genetics Clinic. Additionally, she is involved with the Urology Tumor Board to provide guidance on genetics and with launching the first Molecular Tumor Board at UNC to review cases referred by oncologists to help identify best available treatment based on genetic testing results.
