Annual Conference 2015

251 - Best Practices in PSA Screening

Oct 25, 2015 4:15pm ‐ Oct 25, 2015 5:15pm

Credits: None available.

Standard: $20.00
Members: $0.00

Description

In contrast to interventions with a high benefit to harm ratio and clearly discernible treatment choices, PSA screening is a preference sensitive intervention for which there is a reasonable basis to screen or not screen. Thus, shared decision making plays a significant role in both a decision to screen and prostate cancer management, if diagnosed. This bilateral information sharing mitigates the high rates of over diagnosis and over treatment related to PSA screening and is an important component of high-quality health care delivery.
