Incontinence is an embarrassing problem that can affect patients of any age. Inadequate strength, tone or control of the pelvic floor muscles, or discoordination between the bladder and urinary sphincter are all factors that can lead to incontinence. Using a holistic approach to dysfunctional elimination is key. Incorporating behavioral changes as well as changes in diet, fluid intake, dietary supplements, and management of constipation are all key components in helping patients overcome dysfunctional elimination issues.
