Delirium, through the lens of the older adult who presents with concurrent UTI, is presented. Both conditions are common in the older adult population and important for the urologic health provider to be comfortable in providing evidence-based assessment and management. Included is a discussion of epidemiology and risk factors, pertinent history, physical examination, potential laboratory studies and additional validated screening tools to develop a differential diagnosis and plan for management. Early detection, prevention and aftercare as well as management strategies will focus on nonmedical, nursing strategies as well as collaborative practice strategies involving pharmacologic interventions.

Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause and Impact on Sexual Health

As women age, normal physiologic changes of menopause can significantly impact sexual health and function. Genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) describes a group of symptoms and signs that many women experience which are attributed to decreasing estrogen levels and age-related physical change for the urogenital system. The purpose of this session is to describe the clinical presentation, appropriate history and physical exam techniques, as well as recommendations for treatment. The impact of GSM on sexual health and function, and holistic approach to care is discussed.
