Grown Up But Not Forgotten: Implementation and Management of an Adult Spina Bifida Transition Clinic Within a Pediatric Urology Practice

Presented in this lecture is the discussion of how and when to transition patients from pediatric to the transition clinic. We discuss the protocol for managing the post-reconstruction patients need to maintain and/or improve quality of life. We describe how we have safely incorporated procedures such as in-office surveillance cystoscopy, channel evaluation and dilation, and stone removal into the clinic day. Lastly, identification and management of routine medical management and problems found during procedures are discussed.
