Incontinence is a serious medical and healthcare issue that affects millions of people worldwide and continues to have an enormous stigma attached to it. Despite its high prevalence, QOL impact and socio-economic implications, incontinence remains a low priority in worldwide health and social care. This presentation presents a summary of the Global Forum on Incontinence held in Madrid, Spain, April 8-9, 2014 where policymakers from 33 countries, speaking 11 languages, got together to discuss incontinence.

Use of mesh material for pelvic floor reconstruction is a controversial and poorly understood treatment option by both patients and clinicians. This lecture enables the clinician to better understand the benefits and risks of mesh as well as the history of mesh materials. Discussion is also provided regarding the FDA classification of mesh products and the future for mesh in pelvic floor reconstructive surgery.

The highest prevalence of urinary incontinence is reported in those participating in high impact sports and activities. Why am I not getting reimbursed for UD’s? Correctly linking the interpretation of UD studies to the correct diagnoses, coding and documentation can be a challenge and can directly impact reimbursement. Correct coding and accurate and complete documentation is important for both reimbursement and subsequent treatment. Frequently used CPT and ICD codes along with the current ICS terminology and key documentation needed are discussed. Graphs, coding and sample documentation will be utilized to make this an interactive session.
