Thursday

Although urinary catheters are part of every urology nurse's practice, they are rarely the focus of training. This program educates urologic nurses in understanding how urinary catheters function, how they interact with the body, as well as troubleshooting common urinary catheterization complications. Special emphasis is placed on managing common (and not so common) complications due to long-term urinary catheterizations. The education and management of patients performing intermittent catheterizations is also covered.

Thursday

This comprehensive course walks you through the management of a patient newly diagnosed with bladder cancer through treatment and the aftereffects of treatment. Topics include, pelvic floor prehab, pre-marking for ostomy placement, and immediate post-op ostomy care and teaching. In addition, information is presented on pelvic floor and sexual rehabilitation. Presenters also focus on managing the sexual side effects of surgery along with body image changes to help patients thrive after an ostomy. Information is presented on support group development and assistance and ongoing ostomy support and care.
