There is no formal education to become an APP specialized in urology, meaning the expectations and training for the role tend to be employer and state dependent. Integration of APPs into the urological care setting can be challenging, with differences among the current state and federal regulatory environments, reimbursement considerations, and role expectations. The role of the NP in a urology practice is highly variable and dependent on the needs of the practice. This presentation discusses the basics of on-boarding the APP new to urology and the potential specifics of the individual role.
