161 - Assessment and Management of Concurrent UTI and Delirium in Older Adults

‐ Nov 5, 2016 4:00pm

Credits: None available.

Delirium, through the lens of the older adult who presents with concurrent UTI, is presented. Both conditions are common in the older adult population and important for the urologic health provider to be comfortable in providing evidence-based assessment and management. Included is a discussion of epidemiology and risk factors, pertinent history, physical examination, potential laboratory studies and additional validated screening tools to develop a differential diagnosis and plan for management. Early detection, prevention and aftercare as well as management strategies will focus on nonmedical, nursing strategies as well as collaborative practice strategies involving pharmacologic interventions.
