Basic Urodynamics: Opening, Basic Anatomy, Physiology and Determining Detrusor Function

Mar 13, 2014 8:00am ‐ Mar 13, 2014 10:40am

This preconference workshop covers basic principles of urodynamics. Using International Continence Society standards, participants will learn to identify and interpret components of urodynamic testing including: detrusor (bladder) filling, compliance, capacity, sensation and stability, and bladder emptying (electromyography/sphincteric function).

Contact hours available until 3/16/2016.

Requirements for Successful Completion:
Complete the learning activity in its entirety and complete the online CNE evaluation.

Faculty, Planners and Authors Conflict of Interest Disclosure:
Shelly King, MSN, BSN, RN, CPNP

Accreditation Statement:
Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

SUNA is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number, CEP 5556.

Objectives:

  • List the perspectives that dominate data generation and interpretation, mechanical, physiologic and psychosocial.
  • Outline the elements of a urodynamics study.
  • Summarize techniques of urodynamics interpretation.
  • Define components of a Cystometrogram (CMG).
  • Outline  the procedure including zeroing, data points and interpretation of the data.
