Russell D. Clay has been in the Urology field for the past 32 years. He graduated from the U.S. Navy’s Urology Techicanin program in 1992 as the Horor Graduate and servered on active duty as a urology technician for 20 years, working in the main operating room, performing clinical procedures, and urological x-ray procedures at various medical centers within DoD. Currently, he is the Program Director for the Urology Technician Program at the Medical Education and Training Campus, Fort Sam Houston, TX. Russell has held this postion for the past 13 years. Some of his responsibilities include: Supervising senior active duty U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy, urology and surgical technician instructors and the delivering the urology technician curriculum. Russell’s program provides training of the basic knowledge and skills required to operate and maintain urological equipment and endoscopes; perform urological x-ray procedures; urological surgical procedures; basic laboratory procedures, and assist the physician in both major and minor surgical and clinical procedures. Russell has also maintained his CBUNA certification for the past 20 years and has been SUNA member for the past 14 years. He has been a CBUNA board member and served as the board’s treasurer from (2007-2011). Russell’s other educational accomphisments are as follows: a Bachelor’s degree in Helathcare Management and Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Heathcare Administration.
