Michael Kennelly MD, FACS

Dr. Michael Kennelly is a professor in the Department of Urology at Atrium Health Wake Forest School of Medicine and Department of Urology at Atrium Health, Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Administratively, he is the Director of Urology at Atrium Health, Carolinas Rehabilitation Hospital and the Director of the Charlotte Continence Center and the Cabarrus Continence Center at Atrium Health. Dr. Kennelly is a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology with certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is also a member of more than 10 professional organizations and holds several leadership positions. He is Past President of the American Paraplegic Society, American Spinal Injury Association and Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals. He is the current Secretary of the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction. Listed in America's Top Doctors for 23 consecutive years (2002-2025), Dr. Kennelly's clinical, educational, and academic expertise is in male and female voiding dysfunction, neurogenic bladder, and complex lower urinary tract and pelvic floor reconstruction. He participates in numerous clinical trials and regularly serves as organizer, invited lecturer, and visiting professor at local, national, and international events. Dr. Kennelly has authored or co-authored several journal articles, book chapters, and educational videos in the areas of urinary incontinence and neuro-urology and has lectured extensively on these topics.
