Dr. Maria Florian-Rodriguez is an academic urogynecologist practicing at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she completed medical school at the University of Puerto Rico. She then completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before going on to complete her fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, or Urogynecology. Dr. Florian has a special interest in medical informatics and has served as an Epic "superuser" at her institution. Dr. Florian is a translational researcher and studies changes in the vaginal extracellular matrix as it relates to pelvic organ prolapse. She also has a special interest in the management of vulvar conditions and how these can lead to pelvic floor dysfunction. She was awarded the Texas Monthly Super Doctors, Rising Star 2020.
