M. Ray Painter MD

Dr. Painter has been a well-known and respected urologist for 25 years and has always had a strong interest in economic issues related to medicine. Early in the 1980's, he co-founded Relative Value Studies. Inc., the editorial company for Relative Values for Physicians, now published by St. Anthony Publishing.

In 1989, in response to the ever-increasing complexities of Medicare and other third party payer coding rules and regulations. He founded Physicians Reimbursement Systems (PRS) to assist fellow urologists with complicated coding and payment issues. PRS publishes the Coding & Reimbursement SourceBook for Urology and 25 other medical specialties plus a self-study Coding Certification Course designed to teach students the mechanics and intricacies of the evolving discipline.

PRS' well-known expertise is demonstrated through collaboration with prestigious professional groups, such as the American Association of Clinical Urologists (AACU) American College of Surgeons (ACS), American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), American Society of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons (ASPRS), American Urological Association (AUA), and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS).

Dr. Painter is President of PRS, Past President of the Colorado Medical Society, Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, a delegate from the CMS to the AMA, and co-chair of the Colorado Carrier Advisory Committee. He lectures nationwide on topics related to coding and reimbursement, contract medicine, and the future of the health care industry.
