J. Joaquin (Jay) Fraxedas is a practicing attorney in Florida. He received his undergraduate and Doctorate in Jurisprudence degrees from the University of Florida. For many years his practice was focused in the representation of healthcare providers and hospitals as a partner in the Orlando law firm of Maguire, Voorhis and Wells. He has also served on the faculty of the University of Florida College of Law where he taught as an adjunct professor. Currently his practice is limited to service as a court appointed mediator in both state and federal courts in complex cases. He is a member of the Florida Bar, The United States Supreme Court Bar, and the bars of the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. He is a charter member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a Distinguished Fellow of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators and a member by invitation of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals. He has also serves on the editorial board of the American Journal of Mediation.
